MedBest Recruiting & Consulting is an executive search firm providing placement solutions for the healthcare industry. Since their inception, MedBest has focused on the needs of companies owning and managing senior living facilities including skilled nursing and assisted and independent living. Located in St. Petersburg, Florida, MedBest provides a personal approach throughout the State as well as nationally.
Business Situation
As a result of their continued success, MedBest found themselves needing to address how they managed their growth. They felt that if they did not do something to streamline their operation, their chances to take advantage of new business opportunities could be hindered.
Technical Situation
Part of the MedBest strategy consisted of targeting the executive or C level market. The strategy required a more formal approach which included the implementation of a corporate web presence.
Additionally, their process to gather and track applicants consisted of recruiters keeping an individual data store by means of spreadsheets and other approaches. Sharing and collaborating on applicant and job leads was becoming inefficient and impractical.
Solution
MedBest liked the functionality contained in DotNetNuke (DNN), an open‐source Content Management System (CMS). Specifically, they were interested in the ability to use skins/templates. DNN provides the ability to buy readily available website templates called 'skins' that can be installed and further modified easily and affordably.
Because of DNN’s modular approach, writing custom modules to address specific needs does not require a high level of development. Most of the components of a typical application are already included in the DNN platform such as security, look and feel, and administration tools. A module was developed to address their collaboration and sharing issues including job opportunities and applicant information. The module allows MedBest staff and recruiters to enter and track job opportunities by recruiter and by employer. Additionally, applicant resumes can now be posted online.
